Overview
Impacted foreign body in the esophagus is among acute stroke in medicine. Removing mostly performs under general anesthesia within few hours of jams. Except are disc–electric cells (coin shaped) when it is in place urgent removal.
In a retrospective study for the period between 2004 and 2011 in the workplace ENT 2nd Medical University was examined a total of 438 children with suspected presence of a foreign body in the pharynx or esophagus. Battery has been removed in 11 patients. Changes induced by electric shock depend on the capacity of the article when swallowed and it can cause devitalization of contact surface of the esophagus.
With increasing number of cases in recent years is very essential the prevention–sufficient awareness of parents and healthcare. Needed is communication with producers of articles about safer storage and fixation battery.
