COVID-19: the topic of the day

Overview
COVID-19 is a viral disease, which can manifest as atypical pneumonia but may affect different organ systems. The most often complication is a thromboembolic disease and myocardial damage. After recovery a specific protective antibodies are present to protect the person from reinfection, but the cases of relapse of COVID-19 are published in South Korea. Comorbidities as diabetes, chronic pulmonary disease and higher age are in correlation with a more serious picture requiring treatment in hospital setting. In Slovakia the government introduced strict measures to decrease and slow the COVID-19 spreading. In the diabetology practice is applied the Methodic guide of the main specialist for diabetology and metabolic disorders during COVID-19 pandemy. Diabetic patients as the group with a higher risk need in this period management and care by specialists to achieve acceptable metabolic control.
