Salicylates are commonly applied in therapy. In dermatology salicylic acid is the most commonlyapplied topically, and acetylsalicylic acid orally. These therapeutics can be the cause of acute orchronic intoxication called salicylism. The diagnostics of salicylism is a problem. It may be manifestedby dehydration, hyperventilation or neuropsychiatric symptoms. A complex view on the problemof salicylism in dermatology is presented.
