Overview
The paper extends the school of the back in application to the work of nurses and medical personnel, who suffer from back pain as a risk group. The damage to the back in nurses is present worldwide with prevalence of about 17% and annual prevalence of 40-50% and lifelong prevalence 35-80% (14).
The paper elaborated individual tasks in manipulating with the partly or completely immobile patient, which is the routine daily activity of medical personnel in hospitals.
The correct manipulation with the patient requires training based on ergonomic principles. The principle of solid parts and intervals employs the work with segments such as head, trunk, pelvis and extremities. The principles of traction and pressure take advantage of the assisted motion of the nurse. Two-dimensional principle prefers the motion in two planes forward and backward. In three-dimensional principle the rotation motion is incorporated.
There should be a routine part of the work to consider the school of back and the approach to the patient in the same way as using individual protective remedies or adhering to the aseptic principle. In adhering to the school of the back the nurses protect themselves from the damage of locomotion apparatus.
