Overview
The article presents the comparison of Healthy Life Years (HLY) and Life Expectancy (LE) in the Czech Republic and Sweden in 1962 and 2010. The increase of LE between 1962 and 2010 was in Sweden caused mainly by increase of HLY, but in the Czech Republic it was caused predominantly by the longer period of chronic diseases. General practitioners have an increasing role in health promotion, prevention, health education and in Public Health.
