Summary
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare mesenchymal tumor, which can be extremely rarely found also in the parotid gland. In the article, the authors describe a case of a 39-year-old man with a clearly bounded and painless tumor, sized 4x3cm and located in the angle of the left mandible. According to the histomorphological characteristics and immunohistochemical stains of CD34, bcl-2 and CD99, the tumor was diagnosed as SFT. Due to the finding of some atypical features, it was classified as a tumor with an unclear biological potential. In the discussion there are confronted recorded clinical and histomorphological characteristics of the lesion, differential diagnostic fields, prognostic aspects and therapeutic possibilities with previously known literary data about SFT.
