Overview

Tako-tsubo syndrome is most often described as temporary disorder in the kinetics in the apical part of the left ventricle. Typical of this state is pronounced dyskinesis, coupled in certain cases with intraventricular obstruction. The symptom can be accompanied by a dramatic clinical picture resembling myocardial infarction. However, the findings on the coronary veins tend to be normal and the patient’s prognosis is favourable. To do a proper diagnosis, it is of primary importance to bear in mind the possibility of tako-tsubo syndrome.

Key words:
tako-tsubo syndrome – acute myocardial infarction – intraventricular obstruction
