Overview
The contemporary dehumanized medicine is a sequel of the doctor patient relationship vanishing. The proposed solution of this crisis rests in a return to ethical values and particularly to the “golden rule,“ that is in its nature anchored in the capacity of empathy; empathy has according to the modern research biological grounds. If this biological basis were a source of all the ethical motives then ethics as such would be made null and void. Actually a way out of this trap is founded on the hermeneutic understanding that is mediated by the personal narrative.
Key words:
empathy, hermeneutics, procedural, emotionality, rationality, golden rule.
