Overview
„The Death of Ivan Ilych“, Leo Nicolajevich Tolstoy´s superb story, describes the fight of man during his sickness and his dying. The only relief from his suffering is due to the constancy and compassion of his servant, who alone does not lie him. His loneliness is intensified by the fact, that nobody helps him in his psychologic and spiritual distress, his search for meaning. Some passages of the text are presented and the novel is highly recommended for reading and thinking it over.
