Overview
We present a case report of primary amyloidosis of ureter AL type, a rare form of the diseases. The disease led to hydronephrosis and oligofunction of the kidney. The diagnosis was histologically determined following nephrectomy. The histological demonstration of amyloid is essential for diagnosis. Conservative surgical management is possible only if the diagnosis is made before or during the operation. Amyloidosis of the ureter should be considered in the differential diagnosis in cases where calcification in the wall of the ureter or renal pelvis are seen on CT scans.
