Overview
Frontal fibrosing alopecia is considered a variant of lichen planopilaris, affecting mostly postmenopausal women. Etiopathogenesis of the disease is unclear. The untreated disease slowly progresses over many years, although spontaneous stabilization has also been reported. The case of a 68-year-old female with a diagnosis of frontal fibrosing alopecia treated with finasteride in combination with intralesional administration of methylprednisolon acetate is described with a slowing progression of the disease. The authors provide an overview of current knowledge about the disease and provide an overview of treatment options.
Key words:
frontal fibrosing alopecia – finasteride – intralesional corticosteroid
