Overview
The authors describe a rare anomaly of developmental heterotopia of thyroidtissue in a female patient. The anomaly was clinically manifested only at the age of 39 yearsby deglutition difficulties and the sensation of a foreign body in the throat. For diagnosis inaddition to classical examination ultrasonography of the neck was used, scintigraphic exami-nation and computer tomography. Treatment involved complete removal of the accessorythyroid gland. In the conclusion the authors mention other rare localizations of an accessorythyroid gland.
