Overview
The authors found in 2001 that chronically dialyzed patients do not develop marked cognitivedisorders in direct association with dialyzation treatment. The authors proceeded with this research– they used tests for detection of milder forms of cognitive disorders and extended thegroup of investigated patients and sought a suitable control group. The objective of the presentresearch was to assess whether chronically dialyzed patients develop cognitive disorders andwhether their possible development is associated with the period of dialyzation treatment or thepatient’s age. With regard to the results of previous work they tried to map and evaluatze objectivelythe social background of chronically dialyzed patients. The results lead to the conclusionthat chronic dialyzation treatment markedly changes the patient’s life but does not lead to deteriorationof his cognitive function.
