Overview
Based on archival documents, the paper presents new knowledge of the histories of the pharmacies run by the Brethren of Mercy in the territory of Slovakia. Members of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God – Brethren of Mercy were active in Spišské Podhradí, Bratislava and Skalica. In these places, beside the convent, they ran a hospital and a pharmacy. The paper points out to the influence of the events of world and regional history, particularly the First World War, the life of the Order and health-service activities in the individual convents.
