Pars Plana Vitrectomy as a Method of Solving Vitreomacular Traction

We analysed the causes and the consequences of traction macular edema with thepossibility of solution of this stage by pars plana vitrectomy with removal ofvitreomacular traction and epiretinal macular membranes. An analysis of preoperative and postoperative findings of 4 patients was made. There were foundidiopathic epiretinal membranes in 3 cases and vitreomacular traction syndromein 1 case. We reported postoperative improvement of visual acuity in 3 cases,stabilisation of postoperative state was reached in 1 patient.
