In the surgery of physiatrics and therapeutic rehabilitation of the municipal hospital and policlinic inČeský Těšín within the course of one year (from March 2000 till February 2001) 28 adults and 7children with diastasis of the rectus abdominis muscle were given dispensary care. A striking featurewas in 97 % of the patients a coincidence with rachitic deformity of the chest, i.e. with vitamin Ddeficiency in early childhood. In the group of adults dominated clinical pictures of lumbosacralgia,ischialgia and neurogenic claudications, in children, scoliosis, fractures and m. Scheuermann.
