Overview
A computerized, interactive system for measuring flexion and extension angle in hip joints waspresented in this study. The application enables considerable objectivity of Lasegue’s and GenslenMenel’s tests. The measurement kit consists of tilting slideway supplied with an electric hoist, whichenables controlled elevation of the limb examined, and a protractor connected to a computer. Painduring flexion or extension is signalized to the system by breaking electrical pulse. Angular range ofjoint mobility is inversely proportional to progression of the disease. The results obtained in electricalmeasurement from two groups of patients were more objective and recurrent than in cases of manualmeasurement conducted by family doctors or specialists. Comparative research, which was conducted, outlined the range of accuracy of the appliance and proved clinical usability of the appliance.
