Overview
In the submitted paper the author draws attention to some in this country little known kinesitherapeuticconcepts focused on elimination of poor posture as an important prerequisite for alleviatingcomplaints in some orthopaedic, gynaecological, pneumological and neurological disorders. A basicapproach of this type is that of the French kinesitherapist F. Mézičres – „Method Méziééres“elaborated further into the concept of „Global postural re-education“ (Ph. Souchard), „Posturalreconstruction“ (M. Nissand), „GDS“ (G. Denys-Struyf), the „Method of muscle chains“ (L. Busquet). The basic therapeutic element of these methods is individually selected stretching of muscle chainswith active – sometimes painful – perseverance in the stretched position. This is combined with othermeasures. The author also draws attention to the American alternate concept of „Postural integration“(J. Painter), which in addition to stretching of muscles comprises also massage, mobilization ofbreathing and psychological and emotional factors.
