In a brief survey the authors instructs on the significance of the diptera maggots inmedicine fromits historical and present perspective.They pursue their positive influence uponwoundhealing. They also describe the case ofmyiasis in the wound of the auricle area in amale patient fromthe Southeastern Moravia and a suprising finding of the spinocellular carcinoma at the basis of thewound. They place emphasis upon the need to search for the primary cause of the wound in case ofmyiasis and consider diagnostic risks related to the maggot infestation of the skin tumor.
