Overview

As of the 31st of December 2010, 448 828 persons (127 771 of them women, i.e. 28.5 %) in the Czech Republic were considered to be at risk from their working environment (categories 2R, 3, and 4). Most of these cases were in the Moravian-Silesian region (87 375), including in the relative number per 100 000 inhabitants. 86 % of these employees fell into risk category 3, 11 % were in risk category 2 and 3 % were in risk category 4. The most frequent risk factors were

- noise (40 % of subjects),

- physical load (13 %), and

- dust (11 %).

In 2010, 1 292 occupational diseases were recorded (occupational diseases and individuals endangered by an occupational disease). The most commonly reported cases were risk from physical load and risk factor from vibration, where no effective protective measures are used and where the nascent occupational diseases are not detected in time despite preventive check-ups within the framework of occupational-medical care.
