Overview
The paper summarizes drugs and preparations used and developed for the treatment of skin burns and presents the modes of defect treatment from the aspect of preventing microbial contamination, contact regulation with the external environment (breathing, humidity exchange, thermoregulation), healing, and formation of a new functional tissue. Its attention is focused on various types of substitutes of the damaged or absent skin – autografts, allografts, xenografts, and synthetic dressings as well as combined preparations.
