Overview
Based on written and verbal memoirs of the former head and founder of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation (ARO) at Kladno Hospital, the authors describe the early primitive anaesthetic techniques and their transformation into modern clinical practice, and the establishment of the second ICU in former Czechoslovakia based on international cooperation and modern technical equipment.
