Overview
Ankle joint, as a part of the leg, is a complex joint which carries more weight per surface unit
than any other joint in the human body. It plays a very important role due to its static and dynamic function. Any damage of either of them results it instability during posture and walking and subsequent development of pathological muscular load which results in dysbalance. Since the leg skeleton is most sensitive to immobility, we made every effort for mobilization and return of the ankle joint to its original function at earliest time. In a group of 20 sportsmen the authors applied lymphatic drainage every other day for the period of 14 days. After two weeks the edema receded and the extent of motion and muscular strength in the given joint improved.
