Overview
Biofeedback is used to positively influence the health state by means of a device, which is scanning and imaging the course of various body functions, such as pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, regional blood flow, brain activity and muscular tension.
The aim of our study was to find out relevant studies about principles, use and effects of using methods based on biofeedback principle in the therapy of locomotor system. High attention was paid to electromagnetic biofeedback of upper and lower extremities. Frequent attention is using these methods in therapy of gait and postural functions. In these cases, other physical principles for scanning information are used as well. The point is for example the pressure feedback, plantography, and vibrotactile biofeedback. In addition to effectiveness of these methods the authors paid attention to obtaining information, whether the effect occurs immediately and its duration. The possibility of using this approach at home belongs to the advantages. From the described spectrum of studies is has become possible to evaluate, for which diagnoses and health complaints of the patients it is applicable.
