Overview

The present study evaluated electric activity of brachial m. biceps and m. triceps and, especially, trapezius muscle pars superior and pars inferior in holding the vibrating dumbbell as well as the non-vibrating dumbbell. The results demonstrated a increase of electric activity in all muscles, which was significant in the case of brachial m. biceps and m. triceps but insignificant in the case of the trapezius muscle. The authors draw attention to the possible danger of high activity of the trapezius muscle pars superior, which can develop with the vibrating dumbbell, since the experiment indicates a proportional increase of electric activity in all muscles. It is particularly recommendable to consider the use of vibration dumbbells and specific exercise in in individual who suffer for increased activity of trapezius muscle pars superior.
