The introduction of the paper is devoted to a brief summary of knowledge regarding idiopathic dermatomyositis and polymyositis. Definition, epidemiology, clinical picture, laboratory findings and treatment. The author submits also a case-history of a patient suffering for this disease and emphasizes the importance of a high standard case-history and the subsequent diagnostic approach which led to assessment of the cause of complaints and initiation of early treatment.
