The curve of prevalence of osteoporosis and osteomalacia in our country and worldwide is risingquite steeply. In the submitted article the authors present five years´ experience with theultrasonographic densitometer Achilles Lunar which makes it possible to diagnose theseconditions sooner than by X-ray examination. The results revealed that the apparatus is useful,does not endanger the examined subjects and attending staff with radiation and the outcomesare comparable with those of large DEXA densitometers.v
