Overview

A case of intestinal spirochaetosis is described. Endoscopic specimens of a 52-year-old femalerevealed a blue basophilic margin of mucosal surface in haematoxylin-eosin stained sections.However, on ultrastructural level, moderate infestation of enterocytic brush border with spirochaeteswas found. The pitfalls of histopathological diagnosis of spirochaetosis are discussed.
