The authors present an account on six cases of malaria imported into the Czech Republic in1996-1998. Three of the subjects were abroad on business trips, three on private trips. Oneworker who was on business in the Nigeria office died after six weeks abroad, although he tookLariam. Probably tropical malaria was notified as an occupational disease and the death asresulting from it.The authors draw attention to the developing resistance to hitherto used antimalaria drugs andto late manifestations of tertian malaria after stays in India.
