Overview
Within the framework of differential diagnosis of protracted fever in children it is important toconsider also Kawasaki’s disease. This pertains in particular to infants and toddlers. Earlydiagnosis and therapeutic provisions such as intravenous administration of large doses ofimmunoglobulins may prevent the development of affections of the coronary arteries. Thehigher price of immunoglobulins is in that case balanced by reduced risk of serious complications.Repeated sonographic examinations of the coronary circulation is in some clinically obscurecases essential. In the diagnosis of the disease ii is important to take account of criteria whichmake it possible to diagnose forms of the disease which are incomplete or have an atypicalcourse.
