Overview
The authors present their experience with the diagnosis of digestive diseases associated with giant gastric rugaein three children. In the first case Ménétriere’s disease with foveolar hyperplasia was involved, in the second caseZollinger-Ellison’s syndrome with glandular hyperplasia caused by a multifocal gastrinoma in the liver and in thethird case gastritis with giant rugae and non-specific histological changes. In the third patient there was also bulginginto the gastric lumen caused by the pressure of the spleen into the area of the greater curvature. In the diagnosis of giant gastric rugae digestive endoscopy and histology of the gastric mucosa by deep biopsy(macrobiopsy) is important. Supplementary laboratory and imaging methods are essential for accurate diagnosisof diseases associated with the finding of giant gastric rugae. The relationship of Helicobacter pylori infection andthese diseases associated with giant gastric rugae in child age is not clear so far.
