Overview
Therapy for vaginal carcinoma depends on tumor location and size (volume, thickness, depth of invasion). Surgery is limited and we use it in stage I, cancer involving the upper vagina in young women and to salvage therapy of central pelvic recurrence. Radiotherapy using various combinations of teletherapy as well as interstitial and intracavitary brachytherapy is generally considered the treatment of choice for most patients. In this paper we introduce suitable treatment modalities according to stage and location of the tumor.
