Overview
Chemotherapy, as one of the basic modalities of oncological treatment, often entails a permanent disability and one of the most frequent is infertility based on the irreversible damage to gonads. In the summary article there are summarized the contemporary possibilities of the protection of ovarium functions in the patients undergoing the oncological treatment. The aim of the protection of reproductive functions in women undergoing chemotherapy project (OVARONKO) is to check the protective administration of GnRH-analogue drugs in order to protect the ovarial tissues during the chemotherapy in patients of reproductive age with Hodgkin lymphoma. Another goal is to create the practical conditions and operating methods for the development of oocytes and ovarial tissue cryoconservation in patients undergoing the oncological treatment. The aims will be verified by the form of prospective study comparing the two in principle totally different methods of ovarial protection. The results will be further compared with the control group without gonadally-protective therapy.
