Overview

Case report deals with the case of a geriatric patient who developed polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR). The work deals with the diagnostic process and the rapid improvement of health. It is a rheumatic disease specific for geriatric age. With early diagnosis and adequate therapy, it will significantly improve the quality of life of a senior. The wide range of differential diagnosis and possible symptoms of overlapping diseases encourages multidisciplinary cooperation. PMR is associated with a higher incidence of comorbidities such as vascular, respiratory, renal and autoimmune diseases. Glucocorticoids are the drug of choice, and methotrexate is indicated in patients at high risk of relapse or corticosteroid toxicity. Recent studies have shown promising use of tocilizumab.
