Overview
The issue of nutrition in geriatrics has its specifics. The ability to maintain a good nutritional status is reduced in the elderly. Seniors have small functional reserves due to a muscle hypotrophy, comorbidities and a hypomobility. Hospitalization of a such a patient contributes to the deepening of malnutrition, so the monitoring of the nutritional status and a rapid resolution of malnutrition by introducing the right diet or a nutritional support is becoming a standard part of the care for the elderly.
