Torsion of the testis is one of the diseases which cause the clinical picture of acute scrotumsyndrome. Contrary to other diseases, in case of torsion it is essential in order to save the testisto make an acute surgical operation. Torsion of the testis is encountered in particular in theage group under 25 years. Based on the case-records of four patients treated within a shortperiod the authors draw attention to the fact that torsion of the testis must be taken intoconsideration in the differential diagnosis even in older patients.
