A review of systemic blood pressure regulation agents, their present therapeutic intervention,future trends. The focus is on the renin-angiotensin system, but other mechanisms of bloodpressure regulation are also included. These factors are Ca ++ channels and K + channels of cellmembranes of vessel smooth muscle cells, endothelial products - endothelin, nitric oxide (NO),imidazoline receptors of the CNS, neuropeptide Y (NPY), atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP).Key words: antihypertensive therapy - renin-angiotensin system - Ca ++ channels - K + channels- endothelin - nitric oxide - imidazoline receptors - neuropeptide Y - atrial natriuretic peptide.
