Overview
Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus are in various phases of cardiovascular continuum. It is important as soon as possible to slow down or delay their cardiovascular risk. SGLT2 inhibitors are the newest group of oral antidiabetics using in clinical practice. Cardio-renal-metabolic benefits of this class of drugs confirmed clinical randomized studies and studies from real world evidence. By newest international and national guidelines, SGLT2 inhibitors are preferred choice in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in combination with metformin in all phases of cardiovascular continuum.
