Renal leiomyosarcoma in pregnant patient – a case report

Overview
We present a case of 29-year-old patient with diagnosis of a rare cancer: primary leiomyosarcoma of the kidney. The diagnosis was determined in the patient in 32th week of pregnancy using ultrasound. Tumour manifested with severe pain on left side, for which the patient was referred to our clinic. During examination an extensive tumour of the left kidney was detected, which was confirmed by CT scan after an early delivery. The tumour was successfully surgically removed. Histologic examination proved diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma. Nineteen months after the surgery the patient has no evidence of disease progression or metastasis.
