Overview
Testis cancer is the commonest malignancy in young men. In relatively recent times this condition was a serious disease which carried a significant mortality in the event of progression outside the scrotum. Whilst „early stage“ or „clinical stage I“ testis cancer (ie Ca testis with no clinical evidence of spread outside the confines of the scrotum) is still a serious disease with significant morbidity and a small but finite mortality, the disease is now curable in most men. However, to maintain this level of cure, clinical vigilance is required and it is fundamentally important to recognise the problem, deal with it expeditiously and stratify treatment according to the degree of risk, thereby maximising the patients chance of cure on the one hand whilst minimising the risks of acute or late morbidity on the other.
