Overview

Floorball as a game has been rapidly evolving. Increasing level of match-play puts higher demands on the players which increases the risk of injury. The present study employed a 14-item questionnaire to evaluate data about physical therapy and recovery techniques used during the competitive season in teams participating in the highest Czech female floorball league – the Extraliga. In total 84 players responded, equally distributed among the 12 teams of the Extraliga. The results of the study showed that in some teams the availability of physical therapy was inadequate where often some of the teams did not even have a physical therapist. Physical therapy interventions were not properly used within the training sessions, with passive recovery techniques prevailing. In some teams the reason for inadequate physical therapy could be the lack of funds. Considering the high physical load put on the players during the competitive season, using targeted physical therapy interventions and recovery techniques is essential to reduce the risk of injury.
