Overview
One out of three children is born by caesarean section (C-Section) and this number rises both in our country and all around the world. Almost half of these deliveries are performed because of primary indications. Among the most frequent reasons rank arrest of labor, abnormal fetal heart rate tracing and malpresentation. Orthopaedic indications are relatively rare causes for primary C-Sections, they fall within aproximately 4 % of other non-specificated causes [1]. Purpose of this article is to provide summary about some of these less common indications which can potentially make vaginal birth impossible.
Key words:
developmental dysplasia of the hip in pregnant women – orthopaedic indications for caesarean section – symphysiolysis – pelvic fractures in pregnant women
