Overview
In the Czech Republic 7076 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in 2011 (132 per 100,000 women). The majority of these patients will achieve long-term complete remission (“cure”) after cancer treatment. However, they still face the risk of long-term complications caused by cancer therapy as well the recurrence of malignancy. Long-term follow-up of patients with breast cancer is an area of interest not only for oncologists, but also for gynecologists, general practitioners, and surgeons.
Key words:
breast cancer – follow-up – complications
