Overview
Breast cancer is one of the most frequent women cancers. In recent years many specific new inhibitors of cancerogenesis have been discovered. This so called targeted therapy is a type of treatment that uses monoclonal antibodies or other substances to identify and attack specific cancer cells. The most promissing seems to be inhibitors of tyrosinkinases and monoclonal antibodies. Great progress in this targeted therapy of breast cancer was reached by using of trastuzumab, lapatinib and bevacizumab. Targeted or biological therapy is currently the most active area of cancer treatment research.
