Overview

The study focused on evaluation of physical load in health care workers (nursing staff) and manipulation with patients during repeated procedures like positioning patients and transport to other facilities, including care and moving patients on the bed.

The physical load during manipulation with the patient during positioning and changing of a standard electric bed were evaluated using measured parameters like pulse frequency measured with EKG holters, blood pressure and time spent during particular steps of the procedure. In order to monitor the physical load in particular procedures and propose optimal working environment with the minimal physical load, the Linet Company, s.r.o., was asked for lending the bed with lateral decline and the Dartin Company, s. r. o., was asked for lending an active mattress with an additional function of lateral decline. In the second phase of the study on manipulation with patients, particular work movements, procedures and using muscle power in nursing staff were documented in collaboration with the Geta Centre Company, s.r.o. The following evaluation was elaborated using ergonomic software programme called Tecnomatix Jack. This complex 3D ergonomic software is used as a simulation instrument for the assessment of human behaviour at work. It enables simulation, control and evaluation of working activities, bed and other parameters which were elaborated consequently.

Key words:
