Statistics and predictions regarding care allowance for seniors with diabetes under new legislation.

Overview

In 2016 there a further amendment coming, to the law on social services regarding the process of seeking care allowance. Social investigation and subsequent assessment of the degree of dependence can be carried out under specified conditions during hospitalization. After four years of applied assessment of ten basic necessities of life, the activities involving some of the basic necessities of life will be examined in a more detailed manner. For the period of 2010 -2015, the number of applications for assessing the degree of dependence stagnated, even for diabetes. Considering the current pandemic of diabetes in the population and enormously rapid increase of DM2 in the elderly, this state of affairs is surprising. However, it can be predicted that due to the current legislative changes the number of requests for care allowance will rise. Authors predict increase in the number of applications for assessing the degree of dependence in older adults with diabetes, in particular the degree of dependence II and III, in tens of percent within the next two years.
