Overview
The aging of the population and increasing numbers of elderly people in the society call for complex solutions. In the area of healthcare i.e. age-related health problems, maintenance of health, the organization and quality of healthcare services, etc., knowledgeable approach on the part of pro-perly educated health professionals is a necessity. Therefore educational programs for individual healthcare professions must be structured accordingly, particularly medicine study programmes for future physicians. In the article we present a new educational programme for geriatric medicine for medical students developed by the UEMS - Geriatric Medicine Section and supported by the Czech Gerontological and Geriatric Society, Czech Medical Association which should be introduced into curriculum at every medical faculty in the Czech Republic
