Overview
The article presents the most important conclusions taken from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs project “Determining motivational factors for medical professionals to work in the Medical Assessment Service”. The goal of the project was to discover the views doctors held about the work of the Medical Assessment Service, as well as to determine what motivation would lead to obtaining new assessment doctors.
The authors focused on general practitioners because of their frequent vocational contact with assessment doctors. Only an insignificant minority of those general practitioners addressed was interested in working for the Medical Assessment Service. On the other hand, they would welcome deeper cooperation with assessment doctors, the sharing of common terminology and more information about the activity of the Medical Assessment Service.
One means of better communication – recommended by the general practitioners – is the electronization of shared data as well as more frequent contact with assessment doctors.
Key words:
medical assessment service, motivation, social security.
