Overview

Diabetes mellitus is undoubtedly one of the socially most important diseases with significant health and economic impacts. Every 15 years the number of registered diabetes nearly doubled and the problem is particularly long-term development of micro-and macrovascular complications. In the Czech Republic, the prevalence of diabetes is around 8 %.

Due to the multiple organ damage, is diabetes a disease that has affected practically all medical disciplines and calls for a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach. This fact has led the world in our countries to the formation of diabetes centers to provide comprehensive interdisciplinary care for patients with diabetes.
