At the First Surgical Clinic a centre for laparoscopic surgery attached to the General FacultyHospital and First Medical Faculty Charles University, Prague has been working for 5 years.Based on their contemporary views on indications for planned laparoscopic operations inabdominal surgery. As standard they consider laparoscopic operations in the following indications:cholecystectomy, surgery of a diaphragmatic hiatus, gastric banding in obese subjects,appendectomyin youngwomen and obese female patients, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, implantationof a catheter for peritoneal dialysis. In the author’s opinion in malignant tumours of thecolorectum the standard technique should be laparotomic resection. Experimental operationsinclude resection of the pancreas, resection of the liver.
